GUIDED ALASKA BROWN BEAR HUNTS

COOK INLET

Our Unit 16 Brown Bear hunts are second to none. Since 1984 we have been offering guided trophy brown bears in this area. We have taken may 10 ft bears over the years, the average being 9 ft. This equals any hunt for Kodiak Brown Bear or Alaska Peninsula Brown Bear. We offer a low volume, personalized premium quality hunting trip. Hunt with us, where you are a friend not a number. We have 28 years of experience hunting Alaska Brown Bears in this area, nearly three times longer than our closest competitor.
The western shore of Cook Inlet is prime coastal Alaska Brown Bear habitat. The north Pacific waters of Cook Inlet keep the climate moderate. Summer temperatures seldom exceed 70°. The maritime climate vegetation is thick and offers abundant cover for bears. Winter temperatures rarely dip below -15°, considerably warmer than inland Alaska. The coastal plains and foothills of the Northern Aleutian and Southern Alaskan range are home to vast numbers of all five species of Pacific salmon. They begin to arrive in the streams in late May and continue through November. With a plentiful supply of salmon and a good moose population, the bears are well fed. In the spring, moose are an important food source. An adult brown bear can kill a moose at will when there is deep snow
Spring brown bear hunts run from early April through May. Brown Bears are digging out from their dens at this time. They spend some time in the high country before descending to the lowlands. Black bears emerge from their dens later and are seldom present while we are hunting April brown bear.
During August and October you may hunt from tent camps located near salmon spawning areas. The streams contain salmon, attracting the bears. There are so many bears here, that the hunting regulations allow you to take up to 2 bears every year. A black bear may be taken at no charge during the fall hunt. When not in spike camp you will stay in our comfortable cabin at Judd Lake. Fall activities may include trout and salmon fishing. These hunts require you to fly to Anchorage. Further travel arrangements will be sent to you.
